Frequently Unasked Questions
Who are you?
My name is Edwina Hay. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY over two decades ago. Ever since I could remember, I have always had some type of camera. In college, I took photography courses at Fordham University, College at Lincoln Center. Photography has always been and always be, a hobby of mine. This website is a reflection of photographs that I take in my spare time.
I go to concerts frequently. This explains a lot of the musicians that you will see performing in some of my pictures. I don't claim to know any of them. I just like their music.
This is not a photograph?
I know, I know. These are photographs! I got the name from a Mission of Burma song. They're a wonderful band, aren't they? Their newest album, The Obliterati is fantastic.
I will try to post one photograph on this website every morning. But there will be times where I won't post anything until the late afternoon or evening. Or I'll be too busy (i.e. lazy) to post anything at all. Just bear with me and come back later.
What do you use?
Most pictures are taken with a Nikon DSLR camera and a few lenses.
I also have a Holga film camera.
And a Canon Powershot A95. R.I.P. Canon Powershot. It lived a full life for over two years and died a noble death during a Beck concert on October 18, 2006. You will be missed. And replaced with another point and shoot camera.
And a Minolta SLR.
Oh, and a Pentax K-1000 too.
I bought a Kodax Duaflex from eBay but haven't used it yet.
And a few other old film cameras that I will use sometime soon.
How can I subscribe?
If you use a newsreader or other syndication service and want to know when I post a new photo, then you will need the following rss/xml information:
How can I search for something on your site?
Well, there's the Google. And the box below works too. This search will look through titles, entry text and keywords to find a match.
Ever heard of using tags to make things easier?
Yes. But I created this site before tagging was widely used. So I do use tags on my posts. You just don't see them. One day, I'll get around to fixing that.
Where can I go from here?
Here are some links to people who's websites I visit a lot:
How did you do this?
This website is made with some love, free time, a CSS/HTML template designed by Catherine Jamieson. Thanks to her, I'm able to use Movable Type. Without Dreamhost, this wouldn't be on the internet.
I also post (somewhat) frequently on flickr.
And if you want, you may follow my twits on Twitter.
Is the set "rock and/or roll" taken from an episode of The Simpsons? Specifically the episode "Bart Sells His Soul" from season seven? You know...Bart switches the lyrics to "Inna Gadda Da Vida" to "In The Garden Of Eden" and Reverend Lovejoy realizes this and says, "Wait a minute. This looks like rock and/or roll!"
The short answer to that is yes. The long answer is, "Yes! I love that episode!"
Can I use one of your photographs?
All images on this site have a Creative Commons license. So yes, you may use them but you may not use them for commercial purposes or alter them in any way. Also, I must be credited. You may read the details of this license here.
