Maneka, Teenage Halloween, and Oceanator at Trans-Pecos
On Saturday, August 7, 2021, The City Reliquary presented a concert featuring sets by Maneka, Teenage Halloween, and Oceanator, who performed solo, at Trans-Pecos in Ridgewood, NY. The show was originally scheduled to take place in the backyard of the City Reliquary but was moved to Trans-Pecos and became a vaccinated only event (or you could show the results of a recent negative COVID test if you are unvaccinated). All three acts debuted new material for attendees and 2/3rds of the bill performed covers (Oceanator covered “Say Yes” by Elliott Smith upon a fan’s request while Maneka covered Nirvana’s “Breed”).
This was my first time seeing Maneka as a quartet. Devin McKnight was joined by Nicola Leel (The Glow, Doe) on bass, Jordyn Blakely (Smile Machine, Bartees Strange, Stove) on drums, and Elise Okusami of Oceanator on guitar/keys.
