About Edwina Hay

Edwina Hay is a freelance photographer located in New York City. She specializes in live music, event photography, and portraits. As an avid music fan born and raised in Brooklyn, she has captured images of musicians performing on stage for two decades and has published some of her photos from 1999-2005 that were taken on 35mm film in the Archives section of her website. You may also find her work on Instagram, Flickr, and Tumblr in addition to this website that began in 2006.

Edwina currently contributes to Bowery Presents, BrooklynVegan, Impose Magazine, plus documents events for It’s Nice That, Pioneer Works, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, AdHoc, and other clients. Her images have appeared in print and online publications such as Rolling Stone, Creem, Hell Gate, GothamistSpin Magazine, Bandcamp, and Ghettoblaster Magazine. She is a member of The Photo Ladies and Black Women Photographers, as well as served as the Photo Editor of Impose Magazine from 2012-2015. Additionally, she appeared in a short film about New York City’s DIY scene by Jeanette D. Moses that is available to watch here.
