Before the release of their third album for Seattle’s Sub Pop records called There Existed an Addiction to Blood, California’s clipping. performed a record release show at Rough Trade NYC in Brooklyn on Tuesday, October 8th. The trio initially announced a show taking place the next day (Wednesday, October 9th) at Zone One at Elsewhere but it sold out and the additional performance was done to accommodate fans who may have missed out on tickets. Their brief fall tour includes concerts in Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Oakland, and Los Angeles.
To attend the performance at Rough Trade, fans had to purchase their upcoming album from the store that will be released on October 18th (therefore allowing the attendees to physically have it before anyone else) and were given two wristbands to enter the venue at the back of the store. Taking the stage at 7PM, Jonathan Snipes, Daveed Diggs, and William Hutson began their set with the title track from their forthcoming record. Daveed stated that this was the first time they were playing their new songs live for an audience. Despite their short set, the group included four new songs, plus older ones from an EP (“Wriggle”), their previous album, Splendor and Misery (“A Better Place”), and “Body and Blood” off CLPPNG. Daveed thanked fans for coming to Rough Trade as they wanted to do something for the people who couldn’t attend the sold out performance the next day. He then joked that if we were attending the show tomorrow, we were taking a spot away from someone else and then thanked us spot takers for coming too.
