2019 WFMU Record Fair with The Gories and more at Brooklyn Expo Center
On Saturday, April 27, 2019, the second day of the WFMU Record Fair took place at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The second day featured live performances in addition to vendors selling records, CDs, food, and more on the floor. I made it to the center in time to catch The Gories who performed at 3:30PM, with Allen Hill (of The Allen Oldies Band) singing along to songs before the band from Detroit took the stage. I last saw The Gories at Lincoln Center in July 2010 for a show called The Detroit Breakdown. The Gories performed a set before their sold out concert at Music Hall of Williamsburg later that evening with The Oblivians, Derv Gordon and The So What, and Baby Shakes, playing songs that they wouldn’t be playing live at MHOW. All the songs that were performed at the record fair aired live on WFMU including the sets by the bands I didn’t capture in the above gallery (The Oblivians, So What with Derv Gordon, and The Nuclears). If you would like to listen to the Gories’ live set, it’s available in DJ Todd-O-Phonic Todd’s archive here.
