Rebelmatic, Outernational, and Maafa in Brooklyn

On Sunday, September 27, 2020, I saw my first concert since March. Local acts Maafa, Outernational, and Rebelmatic did a secret show in Brooklyn.

The event was free to attend but a bucket was brought out so people could donate if they were able to do so. I recently learned about Rebelmatic and Maafa thanks to Stephanie Augello’s video interview with Flora Lucini and Creature for The Photo Ladies and heard about the show thanks to Ellen who messaged me the flyer that was posted on Instagram earlier this morning. Since it was within walking distance, I easily decided to head over to check out the bands while wearing a mask and trying to keep my distance from the performers.

I truly hadn’t realized just how much I missed live music until I saw and photographed three bands play on a sidewalk in my hometown while the audience avoided cyclists, cars, trucks, and those on skateboarders while they performed.
