Frida Kill and Witch Slap at Our Wicked Lady
On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Frida Kill and Witch Slap performed at Our Wicked Lady in Brooklyn.
This was my first indoor concert in over a year, and when I learned that Witch Slap, who I saw play outdoors in March, and Frida Kill were playing, I decided to buy a ticket and shoot the show. The underlying factors were: it was more than 14 days after my second vaccine shot, I wanted to support both bands as they have members I’ve gotten to know thanks to covering shows with them over the years (Kate Hoos of Witch Slap and Jeanette D. Moses of Frida Kill), and if I felt uncomfortable in any way during the concert, I could leave, walk home, and be back in my apartment in about ten minutes.
The show was an extremely fun one and I’m glad I was able to attend and take photos of it. With the number of positive cases declining and vaccinations among New Yorkers increasing, I hope we continue making progress in these ways but we’ll have to wait and see, especially with 100% capacity beginning in NYC on Wednesday, May 19th and the CDC recommending that vaccinated people don’t have to wear masks indoors. I tend to err on the side of caution so I’m not ready to abandon my masks just yet. It may be a while before I attend another indoor show again.
