Low and Divide and Dissolve at Webster Hall
On Thursday, March 31, 2022 the tour featuring Low with Divide and Dissolve arrived to Webster Hall.
Low, the Duluth, MN duo of Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker, released their 13th studio album called Hey What in 2021 on Sub Pop Records and the band currently has bassist Liz Draper on this tour to help fill out their sound.
During their set, Alan mentioned this was their largest show in NYC to date. The first time they played in our town was at the Knitting Factory at their old location in TriBeCa at 74 Leonard Street (the venue reopened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in September 2009) and the last time I saw them perform was at National Sawdust in 2018. For about 90 minutes, they performed songs old and new. The first song of their encore was dedicated to the openers, Divide and Dissolve, a duo from Australia who reached out to Low and declared they would be friends with them.
During Divide and Dissolve’s set, Takiaya Reed did a land acknowledgement, discussed her definition of the land back movement, and admitted to the audience she gets more chatty each night. Their North American tour continues tonight in Providence, RI and will conclude on April 9th in Madison, WI.
