Le Tigre at Warsaw in 2002

Le Tigre recently announced they are reuniting and ending their tour with three shows in Brooklyn at Brooklyn Steel in Williamsburg, and it reminded me of the time when I saw the band perform for the first time over twenty years ago.

The concert on Friday, January 25, 2002 also took place in northern Brooklyn, but it was in Greenpoint at Warsaw. Since I was in college at the time, I borrowed a miniDV camera from school (thanks, Fordham University!) and shot some of their performance with it. I recently located the tapes I had in my old bedroom in my mother’s house, so I bought a miniDV camera from eBay, plus multiple adapters* in order to digitize nearly 20 minutes of their set in the above video.

The footage was taken on Friday, January 25, 2002 from the audience and can be extremely shaky at times due to people dancing but I’m excited to finally put this online. For more Le Tigre, you can check out some images I have of their show at Irving Plaza the following year in 2003.

This is an understatement, but I’m very much looking forward to seeing Le Tigre live again this summer for their first tour in nearly twenty years.
