Pom Pom Squad Street Fighter Tournament at Barcade

On Monday, October 21st, Pom Pom Squad held a record release party in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with a unique twist: participants could sign up to fight each other in the game “Street Fighter” with two winners heading home with prizes. Why the arcade game Street Fighter? A song from the forthcoming album, Mirror Starts Moving Without Me shares the same title and is naturally about fighting.

The event kicked off at 6PM at the now two decade old original location of Barcade on Union Avenue. Mirror Starts Moving Without Me played in the bar while people took turns beating each other up via the game until two winners were declared and received vinyl copies of the new album (which comes out via City Slang Records tomorrow), and all other attendees received Pom Pom Squad stickers and could enter to win tickets to the forthcoming sold out record release show at Mercury Lounge on the album release day.

I attended the party on Monday night and images from the fun event can be found in the above gallery. If you’re in NYC and missed out on tickets to the PPS concert on October 25th, the band will also be playing Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 4, 2025.
