On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the world’s largest marathon took place in New York City. The annual marathon, which covers 26.2 miles, starts in Staten Island, travels through all five boroughs, and finishes in Central Park in Manhattan.

For this year’s edition, I met up with Katie Dadarria, who cheered on friends (and strangers) shortly after the halfway point in Greenpoint (we were stationed across the street from Peter Pan Donuts in front of Polka Dot Restaurant). Although I’m not a runner, it’s always such a joy cheering on people from everywhere moving along the streets of NYC at all different paces.
