clipping., Fatboi Sharif, and Cooling Prongs at Elsewhere

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, clipping. returned to Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NY for a sold out show. In 2019, the trio performed in the much smaller Zone One space, but upgraded to the main room six years later in support of their newest album, Dead Channel Sky that was released earlier this year.

The Los Angeles trio were joined by Cooling Prongs (Christopher Fleeger & Counterfeit Madison), and New Jersey rapper Fatboi Sharif. The two opening acts are artists that are operating out of the mainstream and both were received well by clipping.’s fans, despite Fleeger of Cooling Prongs assuring the audience that rap music would follow their set. I’ve seen Fatboi Sharif perform on both Elsewhere’s Rooftop and in Zone One, but I believe this was his first time on the main space’s stage and he understandably brought friends to perform alongside with him.

Taking the stage at 9:45PM were clipping. who went on to perform one of the loudest sets I’ve experienced in a long time. The group obviously performed new songs from Dead Channel Sky (“Change the Channel,” “Dominator,” “Keep Pushing,” “Mirrorshades pt. 2”) but also squeezed in some older material as well (“Body and Blood,” which made me feel the song’s heavy bass all throughout my body. To be honest, it was very startling at first; “Say the Name,” and “Wriggle”) with many audience members singing along to each song, seamlessly transitioned by the group. Counterfeit Madison joined them to sing and play keyboard on a few songs and before Madison began, Daveed Diggs warned us that we’d be forever changed. Daveed, Bill, and Jonathan all seemed to be having a great time on stage and genuinely impressed by the sound in the Hall at Elsewhere, that they performed “Face” as a part of their encore, with Diggs noting that the sound system demanded that it be played before the show came to an end.
