2026 West Indian Day Parade
On Monday, September 7, 2026, West Indian American Day Carnival Association’s 59th annual West Indian Day took place in Brooklyn, NY on a day with perfect weather. The annual celebration of Caribbean culture began after 12PM with various organizations such as New York Department of Corrections (Association of Caribbean Americans in Corrections), New York Nurses Association, New York City Department of Transit, plus elected officials (New York Attorney General Letitia James, Darializa Avila Chevalier [Democratic nominee for New York's 13th congressional district], Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, various cultural groups (Fit4Dance NYC, Brooklyn United Academy) and the honorary Grand Marshal (reggae and dancehall artist Buju Banton). I was stationed on Eastern Parkway (directly across the street from the Brooklyn Museum) and captured the images in the above gallery until 3PM.
