COVID-19 Part One

New York City came to a halt in mid-March due to the spread of COVID-19.

After covering two final concerts before things began to shut down here, I spent the following weeks staying in my apartment and only going out when truly necessary. As the number of COVID cases and deaths finally began to decrease in New York, I would finally take long walks, mostly in the morning when there were fewer people outside. My husband and I began to walk around north Brooklyn (Williamsburg and Greenpoint) along with crossing the Metropolitan Avenue bridge to Maspeth in Queens. During our walks, I’d take a camera (or two) and document things that we saw. I took pictures of the signs people hung in their windows or on their doors plus bars and venues that are now closed or offering to go service only. All of the images in the above gallery were taken in May 2020.
