Le Tigre and Hyd at Brooklyn Steel
On Saturday, July 29, 2023, Le Tigre performed for the final time of their reunion tour at Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, NY. The show was the third consecutive sold out night at the venue for the trio.
At 8PM, Hyd (Hayden Dunham) began the evening with a set of pop music. The performer utilized elaborate movements while being backed by bright visuals on the large screen positioned at the back of the stage.
Le Tigre returned to the stage at Brooklyn Steel for the final time at 9:05PM. The band kicked off their set with “The the Empty” again, with a majority of their set being the same as the two prior nights. The only variation for the final show was that the group performed “My Art” from their 2001 record, Feminist Sweepstakes, for the very first time in many years.
Since I captured Le Tigre the previous two nights, I decided to mix things up by using filters for the final show, along with bringing my point and shoot film camera, and deciding to get more crowd shots. It was an absolute honor to document all three nights of a band I love and never thought I’d see live again after their 2005 breakup. I’m infinitely grateful to Le Tigre for reuniting, their publicist Sarah who allowed me to cover their sets, and to Kathleen for upgrading my access so I could remain in the photo pit for the entire time for all three shows.
Photos from the first night on Thursday, July 27th are available here while Friday night can be found here. I also documented their Irving Plaza show in 2003, and have video from their 2002 set at Warsaw too.
