Armand Hammer with DJ Haram, Cavalier, and Fatboi Sharif at Public Records

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, NYC rap duo Armand Hammer announced the release of their forthcoming record, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, along with a fall tour and a free pop-up show taking place at Public Records in Gowanus, Brooklyn just three days later. The event on Saturday August 5th was free to attend with tickets available via Dice. The show offered attendees an opportunity to hear songs from the new record live, including their latest single produced by DJ Haram, “Trauma Mic,” along with older material from the duo, plus songs from woods’ and Elucid’s solo albums. After performing “Landlines” from WBDTS, Elucid joked that it was recorded by someone in the audience and will end up on Twitter.

For their pop-up, Armand Hammer were joined by Backwoodz Studioz artists Fatboi Sharif (backed by DJ Boogaveli), Cavalier (a native New Yorker who now resides in New Orleans, LA and flew in earlier that morning), and DJ Haram, who performed a solo DJ set and remained on stage to back the headliners during their performance. The pop-up offered fans the opportunity to buy the brand new We Buy Diabetic Test Strips Armand Hammer t-shirts before the album release along with purchasing albums and tapes that could be signed by Elucid and woods at the merchandise table after the final song from their set, “Stonefruit” from their 2021 record Haram.

We Buy Diabetic Test Strips will be released by Fat Possum Records on Friday, September 29, 2023 and their next show in their hometown will take place on Thursday, November 16th at Bowery Ballroom (tickets on sale now).
