Fat Dog, Thus Love, and Godly the Ruler at Market Hotel
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the tour featuring Fat Dog and Godly the Ruler made a stop at Market Hotel in Brooklyn, NY. For this show, they were joined by Vermont’s Thus Love who performed between the tourmates who were on the road for 10 days together.
Taking the stage at 8PM was Chicago’s Godly the Ruler, who I previously saw open for Joey Valence & Brae in Manhattan last year. This time they were accompanied by a drummer (Taylor O’Neal) and strobe lights which made it a challenging shoot. Godly had us scream with them at one point, and handed out whistles to audience members to help make noise.
Up next were Thus Love who began at 8:58, and played a tight set. The band remarked that they unfortunately forgot their merchandise in Vermont but encouraged attendees to support them online, or the next time they return to NYC.
All the members of Fat Dog graced the stage and we were given a two minute warning over the house speakers at 9:59PM. Then the first track of their debut record, Woof, “Vigilante,” began with many in the audience singing along. The London group’s set comprised of songs from Woof plus newer material such as “Peace Song,” and “Pray To That” (which came out a month ago). I saw Fat Dog last October at TV Eye and this performance felt even more memorable than the prior one. The audience sang along to the many of the songs they knew, and Joe kept going on the floor to engage with us (at one point he played with the bill of my baseball cap). The addition of a second percussionist was a fantastic decision, the energy at Market Hotel was so amazing, and I’m so excited to see what Fat Dog does next.
