On Friday, October 7, I met up with the influential L7 before their second NYC show in support of the 30th anniversary of their album, Bricks Are Heavy, which they played in its entirety. After our time ended, I left the venue only to return hours later to capture their performance too.

I’m happy to now reveal that assignment was for Creem Magazine and the piece is now available to read here. I’m so grateful I got to hear one of my favorite albums live, spend a few moments with the band, and create these images for this piece.

I first saw the band live in September 1999 at Life in Manhattan (the venue Le Poisson Rouge now occupies that space) and a couple of those photos I took back then on film when I first started documenting live music can be found below.
